Welcome to Melinda Brewer Fine Art

I began my professional art career after graduating Concordia University with a Fine Arts degree in 1982. My primary medium is watercolour however over the past few years I have re-discovered working in oils on canvas or board.

After graduating, I concentrated exclusively on wildlife, although I had always painted horses and dogs, I wanted to be involved in the growing movement of wildlife art. It seemed an obvious choice as an animal painter. Over the years, I’ve painted many wildlife subjects however mostly species common to my home in Quebec, Canada. Some of my favorites are always waterfowl and the wide variety of birds of prey, hawks and owls that live in our area. I’ve spent many enjoyable hours in the field, sketching, photographing and making notes often with my faithful retriever(s) by my side. Recently, I’ve included cows, lions and bears as subjects for paintings.

Over the years I have been fortunate to have participated in several prominent wildlife and animal art exhibitions across North America with World Wildlife Fund, Canadian Nature Federation, Wildlife Habitat Canada, Ducks Unlimited, Birds in Art, and Art and the Animal Kingdom.
